The women of Counterpart Let it all Go!
June 27th 2018
I recently ran a workshop for the women at Counterpart, which is a statewide service that offers programs and support to women with breast or gynecological cancer.
The theme for the workshop was Transformation, and being late autumn it was the perfect time to explore the idea of shedding. Just as trees lose their leaves in autumn in order to make way for new growth, we also go through transitions where we are encouraged (or forced!) to let go of what no longer serves us.
The women who have all been challenged with seriously ill health welcomed the opportunity to leave their thoughts, worries and concerns behind and focus on “me time”, creating a healing doll in a supportive environment.
Prayer, thoughts and wishes for their future were incorporated into the doll, and appropriate colors chosen to symbolize the energies they wished to bring into the next phase of their life.
Everyone enjoyed spending time connecting with others going through similar challenges. There is something about creating with other women that is especially healing.
You can see some of their creations here.
